My biggest accomplishment to date: Joining the Coast to Coast Sears National Kids Cancer Ride
“The level of thinking that got you to where you are now will not get you to where you dream of being.” ~ Albert Einstein
With any new year we are faced with change, reflection, and resolutions. Personally, 2011 began with great adversity as a colleague and close personal friend is facing a challenging time. He is doing so with the utmost grace and courage and is the source of my inspiration. To show my support for him and his family, I have decided to embark on this journey of a lifetime and applied to become a National Rider with the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation.
I have a mix of emotions regarding the journey that lies before me; happy, excited, exhausted, tired, but most of all thankful. I am extremely thankful to be capable of embarking on such a personal journey. I know I have the will, strength and determination to complete this physical challenge across Canada. I have come across the children’s book ‘Oh! The Places You’ll Go!’ by the incomparable Dr. Seuss, that helps me put into words what excites me about the journey that lies before me.
Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!
You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.
You’ll be on your way up!
You’ll be seeing great sights!
You’ll join the high fliers who soar to high heights.
You won’t lag behind, because you’ll have the speed. You’ll pass the whole gang and you’ll soon take the lead. Wherever you fly, you’ll be best of the best. Wherever you go, you will top all the rest.
And will you succeed?
Yes! You will, indeed!
(98 and ¾ percent guaranteed.)
You’ll move mountains!
You’re off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting.
So…get on your way!
I am truly grateful to be able live a passionate life, recognizing each day should be focused on a strong desire to achieve personal fulfillment and living for other people and doing good by them.
“Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow.” ~ Mary Anne Radmacher
