"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." Winston Churchill.
This is the quotation written on the souvenir I received when I attended my first Volunteer Service Annual Dinner in Toronto East General Hospital; Very inspiring words, especially for people who gave their time and energy to make a difference.
As a therapist my aim is to help my clients recover from certain injuries or mere discomfort within the body, and to meet their goals in order to return to their normal daily activities. Massage Therapy is a very self-gratifying profession indeed, especially when I see or hear that my clients are happy with the result of their treatment, and that I played a part in helping to achieve that. In addition, I am filled with pride knowing that I can make someone feel so relaxed and stress-free after their treatment which makes such a difference for those who could not find relief through other means. A feeling of self-worth, and that my work is appreciated is the best gift I could receive from this rewarding career.
Being in the healthcare field, it's my hope that everyone would be well. Unfortunately, that it is not always the case and for someone who has lost a loved one because of cancer, I know it is not easy to deal with situations like this and you will always pray that you will not experience it again.
I have volunteered for the Tour for Kids' 07 and '08 cancer ride and I am really proud to be part of it, and that in my own little way I have helped a child and their family regain something that they almost lost. Their smiles, hopes and courage still remains and that makes the will to do this cause all worthwhile.
Here is another chance for me to give of my time and energy. To support this wonderful cause determined to eliminate cancer, maybe not in my time, but in the future to come.
Please support me and the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation (CTCACF) in our vision to create a volunteer-based organization that will provide financial and other assistance to organization that focuses on cancer support, with a special emphasis on helping children and their family deal with cancer.
Please visit our cycling website for more information on how you can get involved and make a positive impact within your own life and those around you. Let us stop childhood cancer in our lifetime.
This is your chance!!!
MAKE A LIFE BY GIVING!!!
