Destination Beyond Cancer
I am thrilled and honored to have this opportunity to take part in this ride. Changing the lives of children with cancer is my ongoing goal. My commitment is forever.
My journey began in April 2007, when I was the parent being told “ your child has Cancer”. Briony had just turned 16, no one could have prepared me or our family for what was to come in the next year and a half. When the doctors say, we haven’t ever saw this before, it is not a good sign, however, we prepared ourselves to fight hard and win.
As we struggled to find that cure for my daughter , I watched other children, other families get diagnosed… it was a terrifying world, one which the outcome was a sad and hard reality. In February of 2009, Briony loss her battle and earned her wings. Trying to find a new normal and some peace of mind, my friends got me active by running and then eventually riding, I am healthy today because of this lifestyle change. In 2011, I rode my first Tour for Kids and knew that this would be a forever ride, raising money and awareness for children with cancer is my new direction in life.
I am so happy to be part of the Coast to Coast family, riding with the most amazing people out there, having a purpose and a drive to get me through the tough days. Sharing crazy stories of my daughter and the other children who inspire me everyday.
