I began cycling in 1975 as a means of exercise and transportation to work each day. My passion for cycling quickly grew and has inevitably changed my health, well-being and outlook on life.
I first found out about the Coast to Coast ride while riding in the 2008 Kids Tour of Ontario. It was a great experience in which I met many impressionable riders and learned what Coast to Coast was all about.
I was honored to be selected for the 2009 Kids Cancer ride and help raise money for such a worthwhile cause. I met many children along the route who have been affected by cancer making it an unforgettable and emotional experience for me. I was greatly impacted to see that the funds raised are going to research and assisting families affected with Kids cancer. This motivated me to ride again in 2010 and raise more money for this amazing organization.
As a retired firefighter of 37 years I was overwhelmed with the support that firefighters across the country provided me during the 2009 ride. The fundraising efforts and contributions of Firefighters made me proud of my profession.
Last year my 4 children and 4 grandchildren cheered me on as I rode into Toronto. I look forward to them joining me again this year in the ride along from Burlington to Toronto.
