I was born in Holland 40 years ago and our family moved to Canada when I was around 2 years old, though I have been back to my homeland numerous times. I graduated from the University of Lethbridge in 1997 with a BSC in Biology, and was editor on the campus paper. For three years after University I lived and taught in Japan and absolutely loved it. I have two sisters and a mother who reside in Calgary, and frequently drive in to visit them and indulge in a passion of mine – sushi…

One of my biggest passions is photography, and I warn you now - rarely will you find me without a camera attached to my side! So be on the lookout as I like to take candid shots when you least expect it! I also work with my mother (Riki Jager) on the “Walk and Bike Through Holland Tour” (camera in hand of course!).

For the last 10 years, my wife Heather and I have lived just outside of Delia, near Heather’s family farm. Since 2006 I have worked for himself as a home renovator, although I am finally almost done my courses as a Home Inspector, which I can complete after the ride is done.

When my wife Heather made the decision to participate in the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride 2009, I stood behind her…literally. Giving up coffee and alcohol, cooking ALL her protein-rich meals, making her a custom bike stand so she could watch movies on her computer while training indoors, and of course, fund raising with her at every event and occasion possible.

I have been fortunate to not have any personal experience with childhood cancer. Like too many others, cancer has touched my family, but never a child and I am so fortunate to be able to work with Coast to Coast towards the goal of every child being able live without this terrible disease.
