Day 5 – Swift Current to Moose Jaw
Today’s dedication was to Taissa Kopystansky-Mojsaik, Ulana Kopystanky (previous 2 time national rider)’s daughter who passed away from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma on Thursday, March 29, 2001 at the tender age of 13. Her mother Ulana continues to ride for her daughter and all the other children out there who are touched with cancer. She understands the pain of loosing a child and we rode for her and her daughter today. Taissa’s spirit lives on when we paint our ring finger blue in honour of her favourite colour (something that her mother started years ago). Today all the riders had a little touch of Taissa with them today pushing us through the hard points of our ride. As Ulana said today during our dedication, “Our hardest days on the bike are the easiest in a child’s life who is going through cancer treatment”. I remembered that message as I continued pedalling in the rain and wind.
