Day 9 – Thunder Bay to Terrace Bay
This morning we woke up in the parking lot of the Atikoken Friendship Centre where we were greeted with an amazing breakfast of warm oatmeal and fresh fruit. Our dedication this morning was to Michael Leiter Junior, who is the son of Michael Leiter Sr., a previous national rider and national volunteer this year! Michael was diagnosed with a cancer so severe that the doctors warned him and his parents right at the first diagnosis that he would not have a normal life, and they they could prolong it but not save it. Right before diagnosis he was about to head of to college to start a new wave of his life and in one instant his whole life changed. Instead of looking forward to the future, he was trying to live every moment as his last. We can all learn from that… take every moment as it comes and live in the present. Today we had Michael in our hearts during the harder points of the day.
