The Sears National Kids Cancer Ride is one of the biggest and most ambitious charity cycling events on behalf of childhood cancer in the world. Now in it’s 9th year the 2016 event will be an emotional and inspirational adventure beginning in Vancouver on September 8 and complete in Halifax 17 memorable days later on September 24, 2016. Riding in relay style, the selected national riders will each cycle approximately 150 km and 220kms per day joined along the way by thousands of other caring cyclists who will cycle shorter, “stage ride” distances in major cities across Canada. At the start and end of each day they will participate in community events and visit many of Canada’s 17 pediatric oncology centres and hospitals where the cancer community will share inspiring stories of strength and hope with cyclists and the media. Together, our cyclists will raise millions of dollars on behalf of charities that improve the quality of life for children, and their families, living with and beyond cancer.
As we cross the country relay riders will join us at pre-planned locations where they can be part of the national ride for segments of 3 days or more. They will have the opportunity to share in the emotion and inspiration while cycling alongside the solo national riders. Registration fee’s begin at $500 per segment and fundraising at $1,500. Our destination – beyond kids cancer!
Funds raised will be directed to both national initiatives in support of childhood oncology programs, as well as, to local and community programs through pediatric oncology hospitals and centres across the country. The event is conducted by the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation comprised of mainly volunteers in partnership with title sponsor Sears Canada and other generous sponsors who collectively work to keep administration and promotion expenses to a minimal to ensure that 100% of the money raised goes directly to fund research and support programs for kids cancer in each and every one of the pediatric oncology centres across Canada.
