We want to extend a huge thank you to Sears Calgary for hosting this event. We were very late in getting there, due to all the climbing the riders did, which slowed down the expected arrival time. Our riders are awesome!
Daisy was making balloon animals. She is a Sears employee.
James, videographer from last year, came out to see us! I asked James how the 2008 SNKCR journey had changed his life, and he said that it has given him the desire to do bigger and better work. He currently works for CTV.
Dedication was for Kaitlyn, diagnosed when she was 2 years with leukemia, she is now finishing up chemo after 2 1/2 years .
After a whopping 1.5hours sleep (on the bunk truck), after a 7.5hour drive, we left Roger's Pass.
Today's dedication was for Jason's son Jesse. Jesse has an inoperable brain tumor.
He has had very aggressive radiation therepy. The tumor has shrunk by 80% and is currently in remission, enjoying life as a happy three year old!
We drove the 'kids' 30k head start, and rode into Golden, BC. Absolutely stunning scenery.
Of course the 'kids' were working really hard on all the hills, which were all very long, and average grade was about 6.5% (some a little more).
At Golden, Louise and her husband Reg, both were up at 5:30am getting ready for us. They did an amazing job in making sure we were all fed well.
Every rider today really had to dig deep to get up all these hills. Today, was the hardest day. They finished exhausted, and having a sense of accomplishment, as they should. We arrived in Lake Louise, to our fantastic crew having set up a meal complete with the Emerald Lake vista! This was the first time I have been to Lake Louise in the summer.
I want to come back.
Now we are heading to Calgary. Once done there, we look forward to another 6 hour drive to Swift Current.
